Summer 2023 Update

Hey Friends,

How have you been? How is your summer going?

This past March my friend Rachel joined me on a short trip to celebrate my 50th birthday! We had a fun time in Las Vegas, Nevada, but my favorite experience was turning 50 in the California desert. Visiting Zabriskie Point and Artist’s Palette in Death Valley National Park only emphasized God’s stunning creativity.

Stopping to walk through the ghost town of Death Valley Junction was an amazing experience. (Known as the hottest place on earth, Death Valley National Park reached temperatures as high as 52℃ this summer. I’m relieved to have visited while still 20℃ in March.)

My spring and summer have been interrupted with health challenges, but I’ve savored the rest and moments of calm and hope. The slower pace has allowed me to pray over my future in ministry and to rest for what comes next.

Thank you, NoteSpire Music, of York, Pennsylvania, for your invitation to be a guest on the Artist Insight Podcast. Host Paul and I had a great conversation about my upbringing in southern Manitoba, varied weather between Alberta and Pennsylvania, how I got into the music industry, and my story behind “Brave Girl”. Listen to our episode from July 4th on Spotify.

This past May I had the pleasure of being a guest on YES TV’s Legacy Makers with Jacqueline & Darrel! Set your PVR or mark your calendar - our episode will premiere on YES TV in western Canada on September 6 at 11pm MT, and also air September 10 at 6:30am MT and September 11 at 11pm MT. It will also air in eastern Canada on September 7 at 10:30pm ET. Visit YES TV for program scheduling.

As you may know, my most recent album, “Brave Girl” is my most vulnerable album yet. “Brave Girl” is titled after its signature song, one I wrote as an encouragement to heal from my personal experience with sexual and emotional abuse in the music industry. In my own recovery, I have learned that we have not always responded well to the survivors of abuse. In this, my focus has shifted from performing to speaking and sharing about “Brave Girl” – telling my own story of abuse and ongoing healing, giving hope to fellow survivors, and offering advice to their circle of friends and family in how to better respond. The response has been incredible.

Ontario friends! I will be in the Kitchener-Waterloo area November 12-16, and 20-23, and am available to come and speak for church events, women’s groups and girls groups, mom/daughter evenings, morning and afternoon groups, as well as evening events, for anyone aged 12+. If interested, please be in touch via the Contact form on my site.

I am also accepting bookings within Canada and the USA for speaking engagements in churches, schools, and other women’s/girl’s ministries. I also welcome radio, TV, YouTube, and podcast interviews worldwide. Please use the Contact form on my site to be in touch.

Thank you for continuing to support my music by listening through Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming services, and for sharing my YouTube videos. Please continue to share and spread the word! CDs and t-shirts are also still available to order in my online Store.

Thank you for your social media follows and comments and emails - they have been extremely encouraging and supportive to me!

Keep going,

Rhonda Louise
