What an incredible day.

The 14-year-old in me was in shock and celebrating how far I’ve come. While growing up, I was discouraged from someone close to me from “being a singer”, as I was “not talented enough.” It confirmed what I already thought. At 18, my drummer friend Lionel Dupperon said, “WHEN you do it, don’t do it to say ‘I told you so’ - do it to make them proud”. I haven’t seen Lionel since, but I still think of his words, often. Regardless of how others feel, God is proud.

Now at 47, I was releasing my album “Brave Girl”, and filming my first live video. Once we finished filming, I got in my car and met a friend to celebrate the day. Sitting there in our booth, I bawled over my beer and nachos, proud of what I had to overcome to get here.

I'm still climbing...
