New Radio Single
Hey Friends,
“Something Better” has been a favorite song of mine since it’s original release by Silverline in 2013. Written by Ryan Edberg (Silverline), Chris Clonts (Decyfer Down), and Ben Kasica (former guitarist for Skillet), it has a rock feel and driving vibe.
I loved it the first time I heard it, and soon made it personal challenge to learn it in my own sound. Learning to play a song originally written for guitar on piano, playing fourths in eighth notes, and playing at a fast tempo with consistent timing was a fun challenge. It also stretched my vocal strength and range. As a former music director of mine would say, “Practice doesn’t make perfect - it makes permanent.” It paid off.
Performing “Something Better” is a lot of fun and it has become an audience favorite. While choosing songs for my new record, including “Something Better” was an easy decision - it became the first track on my new record, Brave Girl.
Months before COVID-19, quarantines, isolation, life shifts, personal challenges, and everything that 2020 brought our way, I loved this song. Now, I love it even more.
Something Better
(Ryan Edberg, Chris Clonts, Ben Kasica)
You know me well
Better than I know my own self
I try to pretend
But end up falling from what is real
When everything is lost
And all of me is broken
The answer lies in You
For something better
When I’m letting go
You’re still holding on
To pull me out into
Something better
Something better
With You
I can’t erase these scars
Revealing what I’ve been going through
But they are long since gone
And wiped away in me because of You
When everything is lost
And all of me is broken
The answer lies in You
For something better
When I’m letting go
You’re still holding on
To pull me out into
Something better
Something better
With You
Sometimes it takes the fall
To look up and see it all
I’m scattered in pieces on the ground
When all I know falls apart,
I believe You’re never far,
You’ve carried me through this all along
When everything is lost
And all of me is broken
The answer lies in You
For something better
When I’m letting go
You’re still holding on
To pull me out into
Something better
Something better
With You
Wherever you are in your life, this isn’t the end. God knows where you’re headed, and if you trust in Him, He’ll carry you through the deep, to something better.
